Joint front: BJP, JD(S) combine efforts to tackle NICE project's 'irregularities' in Karnataka
BJP and JDS leaders in Karnataka demand a judicial inquiry into alleged irregularities of the NICE road project. They seek the return of land and toll collections claimed to be illegal, proposing its use for welfare schemes. DK Shivakumar's indirect involvement is also hinted at in the project.
Karnataka's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and JDS have come forward to fight against the NICE road in Bengaluru, that it has been looting the public’s money and land. Former Karnataka CM and BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai, along with JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy held a joint press conference at the JDS office in Vidhana Soudha on Friday.
The NICE project has come under scrutiny due to various alleged irregularities, prompting demands from opposition leaders for a judicial inquiry against the project. The Congress government is being urged to take back the 13,000 crores worth of land acquired by NICE authorities and seize the total toll collection of 1,325 crores, as it is claimed to be illegal.

The opposition leaders emphasized the need for a detailed investigation into the irregularities surrounding the NICE project. They proposed that the seized funds could be utilized for the guarantee schemes announced for the welfare of the people.

While not directly naming DyCM DK Shivakumar, they indirectly hinted at his involvement in the NICE project, citing his association with Brand Bengaluru.
It is alleged that NICE had been illegally collecting tolls even before the total construction was completed, amassing around 1,300 crores from the public, which they assert should be reclaimed by the government to put an end to NICE's rule.
