Ekta Desai, an Indian-origin New Yorker, was racially abused in a New York train while travelling to her office. Desai posted a video on social media that shows a stranger hurling offensive racial slurs at her and another Asian woman.
Desai posted the video on Facebook on February 22, and it quickly became a viral video. The video was posted after 32-year-old Indian engineer was fatally shot in an apparent act of hate crime in Kansas. This killing has shocked the world, and on March 28, the crime and said that the US "stands united in condemning hate and evil".
