The Indian Army confirmed on Friday that it had successfully repelled multiple drone attacks by the Pakistani Armed Forces and ceasefire violations along the Western Border on Thursday night.
In a powerful show of force and resolve, the Indian Army on Friday confirmed that it ‘effectively repulsed' multiple drone attacks by the Pakistani Armed Forces and ceasefire violations along the Western Border on Thursday night.
“Pakistan Armed Forces launched multiple attacks using drones and other munitions along entire Western Border on the intervening night of 08 and 09 May 2025. Pak troops also resorted to numerous cease fire violations (CFVs) along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir,” the Indian Army said in a statement on X.
“The drone attacks were effectively repulsed and befitting reply was given to the CFVs,” the statement added.
Along with the statement, the Indian Army also shared a short video of how its air defence systems took down a Pakistani drone.
"The Indian Army remains committed to safeguarding the sovereignity and territorial integrity of the Nation. All nefarious designs will be responded with force," the Army’s statement concluded.
Earlier today, sources quoted by ANI stated that over 50 Pakistani drones were neutralised along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Borders (IB), with Indian air defence systems thwarting multiple aerial threats aimed at military installations.
According to sources quoted by ANI, the Indian Army’s Air Defence units conducted a large-scale counter-drone operation across Udhampur, Samba, Jammu, Akhnoor, Nagrota, and Pathankot, successfully neutralising over 50 drones sent from across the border.
"The engagement involved extensive use of L-70 guns, Zu-23mm, Schilka systems, and other advanced counter-UAS equipment, demonstrating the Army’s robust capability to counter aerial threats," sources said.
The latest escalation follows a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 civilians were killed by Pakistan-based terrorists. In retaliation, Indian armed forces launched missile strikes targeting terror camps across the border. In a powerful retaliation to the Pahalgam massacre, Indian armed forces early Wednesday carried out ‘Operation Sindoor’ missile strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoJK, including Bahawalpur, a stronghold of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror group.
