Bengaluru: After two weeks of jail, former minister R Roshan Baig has been granted a condition bail in IMA ponzi case.

Baig was accused of taking crores of rupees from IMA founder Mansoor Khan to promote the business further using his clout and media power and said to be a beneficiary in the multi-crore scam.

Baig's advocate had submitted an application before the CBI Special Court stating his client's health reason, post his angiogram recently and stated that he was cooperating with the investigating officers.

Baig has been asked to surrender his passport, directed not to leave the city premises without a valid reason and necessary permission. To appear before the agency on every 2nd and 4th Monday. This apart, he has been told not to threaten witnesses and also inform the Court in case of change of his residential address as per the conditions.

The IMA was shut in 2018 after the firm failed to pay the interest or repay the deposits. Following an uproar by public, Khan fled the city, however, the police caught him and brought him back.

The case was handed over to CBI and many IAS, IPS and KAS officers were said to have made money through this scam and also faced arrest or suspension.
