Bengaluru: The police is a disciplined force and officers in hierarchy set an example for others to follow. This is exactly what happened in Karnataka. A lady cop cancelled her marriage that was scheduled on April 5. With lockdown in place, the deputy superintendent wanted to abide by the rules.

This decision comes after former Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy conducted his son Nikhil Kumaraswamy's wedding on April 17.

What sets DySP Pruthvi apart from other politicians is her sense of responsibility. Realising that the situation is not appropriate due to coronavirus pandemic,  she and her fiance Dyamppa Airani together decided to postpone the marriage and reception, convinced their respective family members for the next date once the situation returns to normal.

The marriage was scheduled on April 5 at Sri BD Patil convention hall in Dharwad. They planned a wedding reception on April 10 in Mysuru, which is the home town of DySP Pruthvi.

"The lockdown in the state was announced from March 22 and our wedding was planned for April 5. Looking at the present situation in the world due to coronavirus, my fiance and I decided to cancel the wedding for now," said Pruthvi to Asianet Newsable.

2017 batch officer Pruthvi completed her training in October 2019 at Karnataka Police Academy (KPA) in Mysuru under the guidance of Vipul Kumar IPS, who is the director of KPA and IGP Southern Range. She was later posted at Malavalli.

Following her decision to postpone her wedding, even Mandya MP Sumalatha Ambareesh showered her with praises.
