According to media sources, Sharbari Dutta's friends told the police in Lalbazar that she had been suffering from mental torture for a long time. In particular, there are allegations against son Amalin Dutta and daughter-in-law. Relatives also said that Sharbari was emotionally disturbed by the behaviour of her son and daughter-in-law. Sharbari’s son Amalin Dutta said, “I had last seen my mother on Wednesday. I hadn’t seen her on Thursday. I thought she was busy and had gone out for work. Both of us remained so busy that we didn’t get to meet every day. Later, we found her body in the bathroom.”
It is said that Sharbari Dutta used to take many kinds of medicines. However, the doctor who was called to attend to her stated, “There was blood on the side of her body in the bathroom. Not only that, there was also a scar on the side of the ear. It was not known how long the body was lying there.”
