Delhi Patna Rajdhani Express leaves passengers hungry thirsty for 16 hours

The premier Delhi-Patna Rajdhani Express was much in criticism recently because the passengers were left hungry and thirsty throughout their entire journey to Patna from Delhi. The 16-hour journey proved to be a nightmare for the passengers who were rendered clueless as to why they were not being given the services they were entitled to despite lodging a complaint.

Fed up with the lousy service, some the passengers barged into the pantry car when the train reached Kanpur Central station at 9:30 pm and took away food from the train. Some were forced to buy food from the vendors on the stations.

However, senior citizens faced a lot of problem since they had no one to take care of their demands onboard. Even coach attendants were not there to distribute water bottles. When the train reached Patna on Thursday, the angry passengers vented out their frustration on senior officers of Ranchi division of South Eastern Railways (SER), who had come to take stock of the situation.

Inside sources said that contractual catering staff de-boarded the train without prior intimation, which resulted in the chaos. Meanwhile, Ranchi senior divisional commercial manager Neeraj Kumar said to the Times of India, "Catering services on board Rajdhani Express is under the purview of Northern Railways. We had come to know of the incident at night. This is unprecedented. Our responsibility is to see that it is not repeated in future."
