BSNL to introduce 4G network, VoLTE service soon; BSNL users to get free 4G SIM
BSNL is testing the new 4G spectrum and VoLTE service on 30 cellphone models including Xiaomi, Vivo, Nokia, Sony . If this service is enabled, the BSNL users can make voice and video calls over data.
New Delhi: With the launch of this service, BSNL users will be able to make voice and video calls over data.
BSNL has announced the decision to expand 4G network throughout India. This decision comes as an effort to fight telecom giants Reliance Jio, Airtel, Vodafone and Idea.
BSNL will go for VoLTE services. According to reports, the service is under testing and the company is trying it on 30 cellphone models including Xiaomi, Vivo, Nokia, Sony . If this service is enabled, the BSNL users can make voice and video calls over data.
BSNL will soon introduce 4G services to replace and upgrade the current 3G services. In fact, in some circles, it has already reframed its 3G spectrum to 4G. After the resting period and rectification if needed, BSNL users can upgrade to 4G SIM.
Reports also claim that BSNL is contemplating on giving 4G SIM cards for free to its users.
Company's chairman and managing Director (CMD) PK Purwar had earlier said that the BSNL will certainly like to leverage our asset for network expansion and growth. "We are working along with the government and seeking necessary approval wherever it is required to take it forward as part of the revival package. There will be much more visibility on how we are utilising the funds and how the technology deployment we are doing."
Addressing the issue of non-payment of salaries to BSNL employees, he had said, "BSNL is proposing the VRS package on the lines of the Gujarat model. It is an attractive package to employees and we expect that a large number of employees will opt for VRS package which will be considered as a part of the revival plan."
