Bhima Koregaon case: NIA chargesheets Stan Swamy, Teltumbde, 6 others
The eight accused chargesheeted include Anand Teltumbde, Gautam Navlakha, Hany Babu, Sagar Gorkhe, Ramesh Gaichor, Jyoti Jagtap, Stan Swamy & Milind Teltumbde.
The National Investigation Agency has filed chargesheet against 8 persons in the Bhima Koregaon case.
The eight accused chargesheeted include Anand Teltumbde, Gautam Navlakha, Hany Babu, Sagar Gorkhe, Ramesh Gaichor, Jyoti Jagtap, Stan Swamy & Milind Teltumbde.
Stan Swamy is the oldest person to be in custody in the Koregaon-Bhima case. He has been questioned several times in the past in connection with the violence that erupted after the Elgaar Parishad event on December 31, 2017 in Pune.
One life was lost in the violence and arson.
In its chargesheet, the NIA said: "Investigation revealed systematic network of Maoists operating for supply of arms and ammunitions, having proper nexus with the Maoist cadre and other banned organisations within and outside India."
"The strategy and tactics adopted by the Maoists to carry out urban revolution with their frontal outfits have also been revealed. Besides this, funding activities among the Maoist cadre and their sympathisers to carry out Maoist work in rural as well as urban areas came to the fore," the NIA added.
Here are the charges against the accused:
1) Gautam Navlakha
He is accused of uniting intellectuals against the Indian government forces to defeat them both physically and otherwise. He also allegedly did recruitment for CPI-Maoist.
2) Hany Babu
He is accused of allegedly giving the task of organising visits of foreign journalists to Maoist areas. He is also accused of being in contact with banned terror groups in the northeast.
3) Sagar Gorkhe
He is accused of actively conspiring and propagating the Maoist conspiracy throughout Maharashtra through a Maoist front organisation called Kala Manch.
4) Ramesh Gaichor
He is accused of actively conspiring and propagating the Maoist conspiracy throughout Maharashtra through a Maoist front organisation called Kala Manch.
5) Jyoti Jagtap
He is accused of actively conspiring and propagating the Maoist conspiracy throughout Maharashtra through a Maoist front organisation called Kala Manch.
6) Stan Swamy
He is accused of communicating with Maoists and conspiracy.
7) Anand Teltumbde
He is allegedly one of the conveners of 'Bhima Koregaon Shaurya Din Prerana Abhiyan', the Elgar Parishad event organised on December 31, 2017, and was present at Shaniwar Wada on the day it was organised.
