Bengaluru: A big reshuffle has happened in the Bengaluru Commissionerate on Friday (July 31) as ADGP state intelligence Kamal Pant has been appointed as the new Bengaluru city police commissioner.

The orders for his appointment were sent by Nagappa S Pareet, under secretary to the Karnataka government, department of personnel and administrative reforms.

As per the order, Bhaskar Rao will be sent to internal security division while former Mysuru commissioner and ADGP criminal investigation department and economics offences, Bengaluru, B Dayananda will take over as next chief of state intelligence in place of Pant.

Interestingly, both Rao and Pant are from the 1990 IPS batch that passed out from Sardar Vallabhai Patel Academy, Hyderabad.

The development will be a milestone in the career of both the officers as Rao held office during one of the worst times during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and ensured no law and order situation was created during the lockdown and also stood by his men who were assaulted in one of the two cases by the public.
