Three TMC Councillors from Asansol and Bidhannagar Mayor-in-council Debasish Jana joined BJP on Wednesday (March 3).

They joined the party in presence of West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh. The developments come a day after TMC leader and former Asansol Mayor Jitendra Tiwari on Tuesday joined the BJP at a public meeting in Hooghly.

After joining the BJP, Jitender Tiwari, “I thank the BJP for including me in their big family. Now I will be able to speak freely. Today, I got the opportunity to chant Jai Shri Ram from a public meeting.”
Meanwhile, Tollywood actor Sayantika Banerjee joined the Trinamool Congress today. After joining TMC, Sayantika said, “This is not a new decision and I was always with Didi.”

Recently, many Bengali film and television stars have joined both TMC and BJP in West Bengal ahead of the polls.
Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora said that West Bengal will go to polls in 8 phases on March 27, April 1, April 6, April 10, April 17, April 22, April 26 and April 29, making it the longest ever polls in the state.
