Coal scam case: ED raids houses of 8 businessmen in Kolkata

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials raided the house of 8 more businessmen in Kolkata in connection to the coal scam case.  A search of the homes and offices of the businessmen turned up several important pieces of information, ED sources claimed.

In the coal scam case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials raided the house of 8 more businessmen. Each of them is a resident of Kolkata. 

A search of the homes and offices of the businessmen turned up several important pieces of information, ED sources claimed.

Meanwhile, Lala alias Anup Maji’s case hearing in the Supreme Court will take place on Monday (March 1). The CBI claims that Lala alias Anup Maji is at the root of the conspiracy in the coal scam. The petition was filed in the Supreme Court in the wake of the CBI's FIR against Lala.

The CBI has issued three notices to Lala since last November. But Lala never faced the CBI. An arrest warrant was later issued against Lala. But so far, no trace of Anup Majhi has been found.

On the other hand, after the CBI raided the house of Randhir Barnwal, a businessman from Banshdroni in South Kolkata, this time the ED raided the house of 8 more businessmen. Homes and offices have been searched for three days in a row since Friday and multiple important pieces of information have been found. 

It may be mentioned that the CBI recently brought charges against Randhir for spending huge amount of money in the market. Besides, the CBI also raided the house of Trinamool leader Abhishek Banerjee in the coal scam case.
