Abhishek Banerjee slams Suvendu Adhikari at a public meeting

Suvendu Adhikari slammed Abhishek Banerjee from the BJP meeting in Midnapore soon after he joined the BJP. However, Banerjee counter-attacked Suvendu Adhikari’s comments and said, “If few leaders leave the Trinamool Congress, the party will not be affected. Mamata Banerjee's government will come to power in Bengal in the next elections.”

Suvendu Adhikari slammed Abhishek Banerjee from the BJP meeting in Midnapore soon after he joined the BJP. Adhikari made a scathing attack on Banerjee alleging that he is involved in corruption. Union home minister Amit Shah supported Adhikari’s comments.

Amit Shah said, “Mamata Banerjee is only focussed about making her nephew (Abhishek Banerjee) the next chief minister of West Bengal.”

Abhishek Banerjee, an MP from Diamond Harbour, counter-attacked Suvendu Adhikari and Amit Shah for their comments. He said, “If few leaders leave the Trinamool Congress, the party will not be affected. Mamata Banerjee's government will come to power in Bengal in the next elections. If anybody fights with the sun, they will be burnt.”

Before the assembly polls, a group of MLAs and MPs left the TMC and joined the BJP at Amit Shah’s meeting. As a result, TMC leadership is in severe discomfort. Several top leaders including Subrata Mukherjee, Saugata Basu, Firhad Hakim, Kalyan Bandyopadhyay have criticized Suvendu Adhikari for joining the BJP.

Soon after Adhikari joined the BJP, Kalyan Banerjee made the most aggressive remarks. He has challenged Suvendu to stand for election in the Nandigram assembly in the next election. Meanwhile, Abhishek Banerjee also attacked Suvendu Adhikari and made several comments against him.
