Suvendu Adhikari harbouring criminals to create violence during Bengal polls: TMC
The Trinamool Congress on Monday (March 29) lodged a complaint with the Election Commission, alleging that BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari is bringing up criminals in West Bengal from outside and keeping them in different hotels and guest houses.
TMC leader Derek O' Brien wrote a letter to the chief electoral officer and claimed that no action being taken against Suvendu Adhikari in spite of the local police being apprised of this matter.
In a separate letter to the CEO, the TMC claimed that there have been instances of booth capturing and rigging during the first phase of polls held on March 27.
The TMC urged the commission to take these criminals into police custody so that the election in the state is held peacefully.
The party also demanded that there should be no deployment of armed police personnel from other states in West Bengal during election.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is fighting against BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari from Nandigram constituency which will go to polls in the second phase on April 1.
