Highlights of Congress’ manifesto for Bengal polls
West Bengal Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Monday (March 22) released the party's election manifesto for the upcoming Bengal assembly polls. The Congress named their manifesto as ‘Banglar Disha’. The highlights of the manifesto are as follows.
The manifesto promises a grant of Rs 5,700 per month to 20 percent of the financially backward families.
In the manifesto, an allowance of Rs 5,000 per month has been promised for migrant workers as long as employment is not available.
Besides, there are several promises in the manifesto including protection of women, formulation of rule of law in the state, establishment of new industries in the state.
Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said today that Congress' manifesto has distinct promises on law and order, education, health, as well as arts and culture.
Elections to the 294-member state Assembly will be held in eight phases starting from March 27 with the final round of voting taking place on April 29. The counting of votes will take place on May 2.
