Highlights of BJP’s manifesto for Bengal polls
Union home minister Amit Shah on Sunday (March 21) released the Bharatiya Janata Party's election manifesto for Bengal polls at the Eastern Culture Center near Kolkata. The home minister said that the BJP has decided to call their manifesto a 'Sankalp Patra' because it is not just a manifesto but a resolution letter for West Bengal by the country's largest party. The highlights of the manifesto are as follows.
Implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Bengal. It promises three new AIIMS to be built in remote areas.
Implementation of 7th pay commission for state government employees and PM-Kisan arrear of ₹18,000 for 75 lakh farmers.
In the manifesto, there are promises made of making 33 percent reservation for women in state government jobs.
Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) will be implemented in the first Cabinet and refugees who have been staying here for 70 years will be given citizenship. Each refugee family will get ₹10,000 per year for 5 years.
Under the Chief Minister's Refugee Welfare Scheme, each refugee family will be given Rs. 5,000 per annum for 5 years.
The BJP government will make reservations for OBCs. It will also provide free education to women till post-graduation.
Women will be able to travel on government transport without any fare.
Under the Farmers Protection Scheme, the government will provide Rs 4,000 per annum to landless farmers.
The BJP government will create a Rs 11,000 crore Sonar Bangla Fund.
Widow's pension will be increased from Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000 per month. 9 women police battalions, 3 reserve women police battalions will be formed.
Rs 20,000 will be allocated for the development of agricultural infrastructure. The BJP government will allocate Rs 10,000 crore for health infrastructure.
Research centers will be set up in Bengal in imitation of IIT and IIM. Emphasis will be placed on local language schooling.
Common Entrance Examination will be conducted to stop corruption in state government appointments. BJP will build Shaulen Manna Sports University.
The BJP government will provide interest-free loans of up to Rs 10 lakh to MSMEs. 1,500 crores will be allocated for modernization of jute industry.
The BJP will build the Netaji Expressway from Siliguri to Kolkata. 1 lakh crore will be spent on the development of road infrastructure in the state. Bagdogra Airport will be given the status of an international airport.
