The 2020-21 English Premier League is getting intense with each passing game, as Thursday night saw the conclusion of Matchday 29, which was brought ahead due to television scheduling. It once again produced some interesting results as we review the performances of some of the top sides.
Manchester City dominates Wolves
Table topper Manchester City seems to be in an unstoppable form, as it dominated 12th-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-1 at home. With this, City continues its unbeaten streak to 28 games across competitions. Among the goal-scorers, Gabriel Jesus scored a brace.
Leicester held to a shocking draw by Burnley
Leicester City is currently placed third in the table and was favourite to win this against a 15th-placed Burnley. Nonetheless, Burnley somewhat utilised the home advantage and managed to hold Leicester to a 1-1 draw.
Crystal Palace holds United goalless
Meanwhile, second-placed United, too, suffered somewhat a similar fate like Leicester, as it was held goalless by 13th-placed Crystal Palace. Being a home tie for Palace, it also put it to good use.
Everton pips West Brom
Everton is having a great season, as it managed to beat West Bromwich Albion 1-0 away from home. While Richarlison was the lone goal-scorer in the 65th minute, The Toffees has managed to rise to fifth place, thus staying in contention for the top-four (UEFA Champions League) spot.
Tottenham barely gets past Fulham
It has been an intriguing season for Tottenham Hotspur so far. While it had begun as a title contender, it struggles for a European spot now. As it faced off against relegation-threatened Fulham, away from home, it struggled to get a win, and that too off an own goal. Nonetheless, the Spurs still maintains its eighth spot.
Chelsea hands Liverpool yet another defeat at Anfield
Defending champion Liverpool's season is turning out to be a disaster. It has slumped to its fifth consecutive defeat at Anfield, with Chelsea edging past 1-0, thanks to Mason Mount's 42nd-minute strike. Meanwhile, Chelsea remains unbeaten under its new manager Thomas Tuchel, as it stays on fourth while Liverpool sinks to seventh.
