Diwali is one of the biggest Hindu festivals celebrated across the globe. The festival of lights marks the victory of good over evil and light over darkness. All the communities in India celebrate the festival with a lot of enthusiasm. People clean their homes, perform Lakshmi puja and pray to the Goddess of wealth to bless everyone with wealth and good health.

The festival starts on the 15th day of the Kartik month if we go according to the Hindu Lunar calendar.  This year the festival is falling on November 4, 2021 which is a Thursday.

History

According to  Hindu mythology, Lord Ram had returned back home with Mata Sita and younger brother Lakshman after spending 14 years in exile and defeating Ravan. Masses at Ayodha had celebrated his return with a lot of enthusiasm by lighting diyas and lamps. The tradition continues till date.
