This was SC East Bengal's sixth draw of the 2020-21 Indian Super League, as with two wins and four loses, it stays at the ninth spot. Meanwhile, it was also the sixth draw for Chennaiyin FC, while with three wins and loses each, it remains on sixth.
SC East Bengal seemed to be getting no respite from winless runs, as it settled for yet another frustrating draw against former champion, Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League 2020-21, at the GMC Stadium in Goa, on Monday. With this draw, SCEB stays on ninth, while Chennaiyin continues to remain on sixth.
The opening half saw twin attacks from Chennaiyin until the 22nd minute. Meanwhile, eight minutes later, SCEB's Ajay Chhetri picked up his second yellow card of the game, as he was sent off.
Another couple of attacks followed from Chennaiyin, including a save from SCEB's goalkeeper, Debjit Majumder. Nonetheless, it failed to find the back of the net, as the deadlock stayed in place at half-time.
The second half was more eventful than the first, with as many as 14 attempts being made, including six saves, while five of them came from Majumder. Yet, it was all settled for a stale draw at the end of the game, with both taking a point each.
As for the next game, SCEB would be up against table-topper Mumbai City FC, in another tough clash, on Friday. Meanwhile, Chennaiyin would take on second-placed ATK Mohun Bagan on Thursday.
