SC East Bengal is off to a terrible start to the 2020-21 Indian Super League. The side is currently placed in the 11th spot and is winless in the opening seven games. Bright Enobakhare has played in the English Premier League before and has scored ten career goals in 77 games.
As SC East Bengal looks to turn things around in the ongoing Indian Super League (ISL), the club has bolstered its forward department. It has signed Bright Enobakhare of Nigeria from AEK Athens.
The 22-year-old began his youth career in England, playing for Northfield Town, before moving to Wolverhampton Wanderers. He was associated with the side until last season, while he underwent a couple of loan stints in the EFL Championship.
Following his signing, SCEB head coach, Robbie Fowler said, "I am absolutely delighted with the signing of Bright. I have had a good few chats with him, given him our vision and our beliefs what we want to achieve here. He has accepted them with an open mind."
"The signing of a young, talented and very good player adds to our squad. I will stress how young and talented he is. If you look at the foreign players who have come in, the likes of Matti Steinmann are fairly young for foreign players in this league," he added, reports PTI.
Meanwhile, Enobakhare was delighted to join the club, as he reckoned, "It is the biggest club in India and offers me a fresh challenge. The Indian Super League is growing at a rapid pace and I believe I can fulfil my potential there."
"I know the league is already underway and I have to quickly get along with the squad and I am ready for that. I am really looking forward to the challenge ahead," he concluded.
Enobakhare has scored ten career goals in 77 matches. As for his loan stints, he played for the Scottish club, Kilmarnock in 2018, followed by England's Coventry City (2019) and Wigan Athletic (2019). His most successful time came at Coventry, where he scored six goals in 18 games.
