ISL 2020-21: Mumbai City FC held to an intense draw by FC Goa
This was Mumbai City FC's fourth draw of the 2020-21 Indian Super League, while with ten wins and a couple of losses, it sits atop the table. Meanwhile, this was FC Goa's eighth draw, as along with five wins and three losses, it has risen to the third place.
In what turned out to be in an intense encounter, Mumbai City FC was held to a thrilling draw against FC Goa at the GMC Stadium in Goa, on Monday. While Mumbai continues to stay atop the table, Goa has risen to the third spot.
The opening half saw four attacks until the 18th minute. In contrast, the next minute saw Hugo Boumous put City ahead with his left-foot to the centre from a similar position, following an assist from Adam Le Fondre through a long pass.
It was followed by an attack in the 25th minute from Mumbai, while the same minute saw Le Fondre tap in the second, a header to the top-right from the centre. Four more attempts ensued until the 43rd minute, including a couple of saves from either side.
Nonetheless, the very next minute saw Glan Martins pull one back for Goa through his right foot to the top-right from outside the box, thanks to Jorge OrtÃz's assistance. It turned out to be the final attack of the half, as Mumbai led at half-time.
The second half saw the first attack in the 48th minute. Simultaneously, Igor Angulo levelled it, a couple of minutes later, through his header to the bottom left from the centre, following a cross assist from Alberto Noguera.
Ten further attempts were made until the 89th minute. Meanwhile, the same minute saw Rowllin Borges restore Mumbai's lead through his right foot to the centre in a close-range attempt, as Hugo Boumous came up with the assist through a cross from a free-kick.
While Mumbai produced another fresh attempt in the 91st minute, Ishan Pandita put the deadlock back in place through his header to the bottom-right from the centre, thanks to Edu Bedia's cross assist. It turned out to be the game's final attack, as the referee blew the full-time whistle, while the honours were shared.
