ISL 2020-21: Kerala Blasters FC squanders another chance for win against SC East Bengal
This was SC East Bengal's fifth draw of the 2020-21 Indian Super League, as with two wins and four loses, it stays on the ninth spot. Meanwhile, it was the fourth draw for Kerala Blasters, while with two wins and five loses, it remains on the 10th spot.
Kerala Blasters FC's woeful run in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2020-21 continued, as it settled for a frustrating draw to SC East Bengal, at the Tilak Maidan in Goa, on Friday. The draw made no changes to the two sides' positions, who stayed on tenth and ninth, respectively.
The opening half saw 12 attacks from both. While it also included a couple of saves from both goalkeepers, none of the other attempts was as promising, as both failed to break the deadlock at half-time.
The second half witnessed three attempts within 59 minutes, including a save from SCEB's Debjit Majumder. Nonetheless, four minutes later, Jordan Murray handed Kerala the lead with his right-footed strike to the bottom-left from the centre, following an assist from the goalkeeper, Albino Gomes.
Meanwhile, seven more attacks ensued, including a save from Gomes. However, during the 94th minute, when SCEB pulled it back through Scott Neville's close-range header to the top-right, thanks to Bright Enobakhare's assist, through a corner, as the match ended in a thrilling 1-1 draw.
SCEB would now face off against former champion, Chennaiyin FC, who is currently placed fifth. Meanwhile, Kerala takes on fellow former champion, Bengaluru FC on Wednesday, who is now ranked sixth.
