ISL 2020-21: Kerala Blasters FC registers first win of the season by taming Hyderabad FC
This was Kerala Blasters' first win of the season in seven games, as along with three draws and loses, it stays at the ninth spot. Meanwhile, Hyderabad FC suffered its second loss of the season in seven games, as along with two wins and three loses, it stays on the eighth.
On Sunday, Kerala Blasters came up with a spirited performance to tame Hyderabad FC in the 2020-21 Indian Super League (ISL), at the GMC Stadium in Telangana. It happened to be Blasters' opening win of the season in seven games, as it stays on ninth, while Hyderabad suffered its second loss in the same number of games as Blasters and is placed a spot above, on eighth.
The opening half began on an attacking note, with as many as six attacks coming up in the first 27 minutes. Furthermore, it saw four shots on target being saved, including three for Hyderabad.
Nonetheless, it was the very next minute that saw Blasters earning the lead through Abdul Nediyodath's header to the centre, from a similar position, as Facundo Pereyra came up with the assist from the corner. Five more attacks ensured thereon, but to no avail, as Blasters walked in with the lead at the half-time.
The following half was even attacking, as 16 attacks ensured until the 86th minute, including three saves, while a couple of them were for the Blasters. Nonetheless, the next minute saw the Blasters double its lead following a right-footed strike from Jordan Murray, who shot it go the bottom-left corner from the centre.
It resulted in another attack from Hyderabad, only to be denied by Blasters goalkeeper, Albino Gomes. Eventually, it turned out to be the game's final attack, as the referee blew the whistle for the Blasters to script the all-important opening win of the season and the crucial three points.
