ISL 2020-21: Jamshedpur FC edges past Bengaluru FC in an entertaining encounter
This was Jamshedpur FC's seventh win of the Indian Super League 2020-21, as with six draws and seven losses, it stays on the sixth spot. Meanwhile, Bengaluru FC suffered its eighth loss of the season, while with five wins and seven draws, it remains at seventh.
In what turned out to be a redundant but entertaining encounter, Jamshedpur FC edged past former champion Bengaluru FC in the 2020-21 Indian Super League at the Tilak Maidan in Goa on Thursday. With this, both sides remain unchanged in their league positions, staying sixth and seventh, respectively.
The opening half began with six atta ks, including four saves (two apiece), until the 12th minute. Nonetheless, three minutes later, Stephen Eze handed Jamshedpur the opening lead with his right foot to the bottom-left, six yards from the left flank, following an assist from Aitor Monroy's free-kick cross.
Three more attacks ensued until the 28th minute, including a save from Bengaluru goalkeeper Lalthuammawia Ralte. Nevertheless, it was five minutes later when Seiminlen Doungel doubled it for Jamshedpur with his right foot to the bottom-left from the right flank, thanks to Farukh Choudhary's assist.
In the 40th minute, David Grande tripled the lead with his header to the bottom-left from the centre, as Aitor Monroy produced a cross assist through a free-kick. Meanwhile, it was followed up with another attempt, as Jamshedpur goalkeeper Rehenesh TP produced another save, while his side comfortably led at half-time.
The second half saw four attempts until the 59th minute, before Fran GonzƔlez pulled one back for Bengaluru, a couple of minutes later, through his header to the bottom-right, six yards from the right flank, while Parag Shrivas came up with the assist. There were a couple of more attempts until the 68th minute, while Sunil Chhetri scored the second for Bengaluru, with his header to the bottom-left from the centre, as Harmanjot Khabra assisted him through a cross.
Eight more attacks were made in the closing stages of the game, with Ralte producing a couple of saves. Nonetheless, it was Jamshedpur that eventually walked away with the win at the full-time whistle.
