ISL 2020-21: Bengaluru FC held goalless by Chennaiyin FC
This was Bengaluru FC's seventh draw of the Indian Super League 2020-21, as with four wins and five draws, it stays at the sixth spot. A for Chennaiyin FC, it was its eighth draw of the season, while with three wins and five loses, it remains on the eighth.
Former champion, Bengaluru FC was seemingly back to its shaky form. On Friday, it was held for a goalless draw against the fellow former winner, Chennaiyin FC, in the 2020-1 Indian Super League, at the Fatorda Stadium in Bengaluru. With this draw, both are placed on sixth and eighth, respectively.
The opening half saw 11 attacks. There were four saves for the promising chances, while three of them were produced by Bengaluru goalkeeper, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu. Nonetheless, the deadlock stayed at half-time.
The second half saw 12 chances. There were four more saves, while three of them were once again produced by Gurpreet.
Chennaiyin came close to earning the lead in the 80th minute when Memo hit the left post. Nonetheless, both sides' defence failed to budge, as the honours were shared upon the referee's full-time whistle.
As for the next game, Bengaluru has a challenging task against second-placed ATK Mohun Bagan, on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Chennaiyin FC would be up against seventh-placed Jamshedpur FC on Wednesday.
