Antonio Lopez Habas to continue as ATK Mohun Bagan head coach for ISL 2021-22
Antonio Lopez Habas is the longest-serving coaches in the history of the Indian Super League. Since the inception of ISL in 2014, he was associated with ATK until 2016. He then moved to FC Pune City in 2017 and returning to ATK in 2019, while he now manages ATK Mohun Bagan.
In what could be considered good news for ATK Mohun Bagan supporters, head coach Antonio Lope Habas is all set to continue his role at the club for the upcoming 2021-22 season of the Indian Super League. He continues to remain the longest-serving coach in the competition.
Habas is also the most successful manager in the tournament, having won twin ISL titles with ATK Mohun Bagan. Incidentally, the success in ISL happens to be his only managerial success.
According to a release by ATKMB, the club has signed a year extension with the Spanish coach. Meanwhile, it would also be his fifth stint with the side, besides being his seventh in the competition.
"I am happy that the officials have kept faith in me and on our technical staff. It will inspire us all a lot before the AFC Cup. It will boost our moral strength. Our goal now is to bring success to the club at the international level. We are committed to upholding the trust of members- supporters and officials," he said in a statement by the club.
ATKMB is the most successful club in the ISL to date, having won three titles. It managed to finish as the runner-up the previous season, losing to Mumbai City FC 1-2.
