ISL 2020-21: Aniket Jadhav's sole strike allows Jamshedpur FC to end NorthEast United's unbeaten run
This was Jamshedpur FC's second win of the season in seven matches, along with four draws and a loss, as they have risen to the fifth spot. As for NorthEast United FC, it was their first loss of the season in seven games, as they stay in the fourth spot.
In what was another nail-biting encounter, Jamshedpur FC earned a hard-fought 1-0 win over NorthEast United in the ongoing Indian Super League (ISL), at the Tilka Maidan in Goa, on Friday. The victory handed NEU their first loss of the season, as they stayed at the fourth spot, while Jamshedpur have risen to fifth.
The opening half was an eventful one, as the sides came up with nine attacks. However, it was all futile, as both the sides failed to put a single shot on target, as both the sides went goalless into half-time.
Five minutes into the second half, NEU came up with a couple of attacks. However, it was in the 52nd minute when Aniket Jadhav's close-range right-footed shot, to the top of the goal, put Jamshedpur ahead, following an assist from Jackichand Singh.
It was followed by an attack each from both sides before Jamsehdpur's Stephen Eze conceded a penalty to NEU in the 64th minute. However, Jamshedpur goalkeeper, Rehenesh TP, saved the spot-kick from Idrissa Sylla.
Meanwhile, following the saved penalty, Jamshedpur switched to their defensive mood, coming up with just an attack in the remaining game time, while NEU came up with a couple. However, none could find the net, as the referee blew the full-time whistle, with Jamshedpur walking away with the three points.
