Bengal BJP leader Krishnendu Mukherjee has alleged that he was attacked by miscreants of Trinamool Congress who opened fire at his car in Asansol. Mukherjee claimed that he somehow saved himself from the attack after the miscreants failed to open the car’s doors.
However, the TMC has denied all the allegations and said that the incident might be a fallout of Mukherjee's old rivalries.
The BJP leader alleged, “As I was returning home in Asansol's Hirapur from Kolkata on Sunday night, three miscreants, whom I suspect to be TMC goons, stopped my car near my house and tried to open the doors, failing which they opened indiscriminate fire on the vehicle.”
“The driver shouted for help and I repeatedly honked the horn to grab the locals'' attention, following which the assailants fled the spot,” he added.
A police officer said, “A complaint has been received from Mukherjee and CCTV footages in the area are being scrutinised.”
Krishnendu Mukherjee said that he has informed the BJP leaders about the incident.
