Weather Update

A 'Western Disturbance' brings rain and hail from the west. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that this system will cause widespread rain and gusty winds over Northwest India. This means we'll get a cool, wet spell instead of the usual early summer heat.

The weather system, currently over Balochistan, is moving east. The IMD predicts light to moderate rain with thunderstorms for Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, parts of Rajasthan, UP, and Delhi between April 2 and 4. The rain will be heaviest on April 3 and 4. Higher Himalayan areas might get snow or hail, while the plains could see winds of 40-60 km/h.

The IMD also warns that Central India might face intense storms and thunderstorms until April 6, with a chance of hailstorms until April 2.

This rain will help spring crops and keep temperatures down, pushing back the early summer heatwave until late April. But, it could also disrupt traffic and outdoor work, especially in the Delhi-NCR region. While farmers welcome the rain for their Rabi crops, a sudden downpour could damage wheat fields or fruit orchards.
