Coronavirus: 10 good results that came out of COVID-19 pandemic
At least 2 million people worldwide have been infected with coronavirus and the infection has claimed more than 100,000 lives. But as many countries are under lockdown to curb the spread of coronavirus, some good has emerged.
Amid the self-isolation which many have been forced to accept, here are 10 positive effects which the COVID-19 pandemic has had.
Washing hands: What most of us had forgotten to keep ourselves safe and healthy was washing hands. Hand hygiene is a great way to prevent infections and clean hands are back in fashion.
Cleanliness: A main aspect in India was to keep our cities and places clean. Now with coronavirus lockdown, cleanliness is back on track. Moreover, with every nook and corner being sanitised, we understand the need to maintain cleanliness for a better future.
Family time: Without a doubt, the importance of family is being reinforced right now. Many are quarantined with spouses, children, and other relatives. They remind us of the precious nature of our family bonds. We need family more than we care to admit when life looks very routine.
Road accidents: One of the major advantages of the lockdown has been the steep decline in the number of accidents. Roads are relatively empty as people are confined to their houses and this has reduced the number of accidents.
Nature revived: There are stay-at-home orders in lots of places, but if you can get yourself to open air, the change of scenery after days spent inside can be a balm for the human soul. The immensity of the outdoors also gives us the sense that, despite all the current adjustments and difficulties, nature continues on, unabated. Maybe we took that normalcy for granted before. Now, we don’t.
Less expenditure: If there’s one thing modern India has been able to count on, it’s the abundance of food and supplies, clothes and accessories at supermarkets and malls. This crisis reminds us that not all luxurious items are necessary for survival and ease of access to what we need to run our homes and feed our families is an ongoing miracle.
Fight against real virus: This entire crisis has taught us the real value of life and how we should be treating lives beyond race, religion and geographical boundaries.
Encouragement to be philanthropic: Most of all, this crisis impresses on us the incomparable need we have for compassion. None of us are fine. None of us are okay. It is a blessing to be able to activate a deep feeling for the plight of others.
Advances in medical field: Coronavirus pandemic has led to advances in the medical field with the entire world struggling to find a vaccine.
Hobbies: There's never been a better time to stay in and indulge in activities that are close to our hearts. This is a great time to relive old memories and carry out activities that have been our passion for a long time but couldn't find time to do it.
