Twitter is now testing 'Spaces' for live audio chats

For now, Twitter is giving access to 'Spaces' to a very small feedback group.

Twitter has started testing its latest voice-based chat room 'Spaces'.

In a series of posts on the 'Spaces' account, Twitter said with its new experiment, it was bringing people together to connect directly in an intimate, conversational Space.

According to Twitter, "The human voice can bring a layer of connectivity to twitter through emotion, nuance and empathy often lost in text. We see this with voice tweets and voice direct messages. Sometimes 280 (characters) is not enough and voice gives people another way to join the conversation."

For now, Twitter is giving access to 'Spaces' to a very small feedback group.

According to reports, moderation seems to be a key focus of Spaces wherein creators can control who can or cannot speak on the platform.

"People in the group will be able to create Spaces for their followers and other people on twitter to join. They will have full control over who can/cannot speak in their Space."

According to a Tech Crunch report, the test will run on iOS during the beta, offering the opportunity for users to participate in host-moderated audio conversations between two or more people.

Also being tested on Spaces are reactions similar to hand gestures, early version of live transcriptions, reporting and blocking posts and sharing of Tweets in 'Spaces'
