Winter is a lovely season. The holiday vibe, breezy evenings, cosy homes, everything feels and looks beautiful around, except our skin and hair. As the climate drops, our skin and hair take a turn for the worse.

Dry and patchy skin, rough and lifeless hair with the itchy scalp - most of us face these problems this time of the year. The worst part is that we are too lazy and cold to take on special measures like regular oil massage, face packs etc.

Carrot and beetroot soup is the best winter meal you can have for all your skin problems. Both carrot and beetroot are winter-special foods, so you'll get them all-fresh this season. The warming soup imbued with the nutrition of carrots and beets is something you'll definitely like.

Carrot for skin and hair: Apart from containing immunity-boosting antioxidants and vitamin C, the carrot is a good source of vitamin A, beta-carotene and silicon content, all of which help boost skin, hair and nails.

Beetroot for skin and hair: Just like carrot, beetroot is also rich in vitamin C. The dark pink vegetable also provides a good amount of vitamin A, calcium and iron.

How to make carrot and beetroot soup: Ingredients - 1 carrot, 1 beetroot, 1 tsp grated ginger, 1 tsp grated garlic, 1 tsp cumin seeds, Salt to taste, Black pepper powder to taste, Coriander leaves for garnishing, Few drops of lemon juice, 1 tbsp butter
Method: Step 1 - In a pressure cooker, heat butter and add cumin seeds. When the seeds begin to crackle, add ginger and garlic. Sauté till brown.

Step 2- Add chopped carrot and beetroot along with some salt. Add around one glass water and let it pressure cook.

Step 3 - When the cooked carrots and beetroot cool down, put them along with spices and water in a blender to make a smooth paste.

Step 4 - Pour back the paste in a pan and heat it. Add black pepper powder and lemon juice, and serve after garnishing with coriander leaves.
