Priyanka Chopra in an interview candidly spoke about facing negativity from South Asian people, despite being an Indian.

The actress said that she notices a sense of protectiveness from a lot of people but that comes with a pinch of cynicism. She confessed to getting negativity from South Asians.

The actress was asked how could she get this negative criticism from the people of her own community. 

Priyanka said that there are very few brown people in the entertainment business. They are trying to create more opportunities for people like us so why is there so much negativity for us.

She said that it was not of normal people's consciousness that a leading man or woman can be Indian in a mainstream Hollywood show.

She had started to notice the difference between fans who know her and are protective of her, but she feels discouraged by the other side.
