In 2014, the late Rajesh Khanna's bungalow he named Aashirwad, located at Carter Road, was reportedly sold for Rs 95 crore. The bungalow has been bought by Shashi Shetty, the founder and executive chairman of Mumbai-headquartered Allcargo Logistics.
Aashirwad is the iconic residence that belonged to the late actor when he was alive. In the 60s, the residents and the locals around Carter Road called bungalow a 'bhoot bhangla' or haunted house.
Bollywood actor, late Rajendra Kumar brought that house for just Rs 60,000. Friend actor Manoj Kumar advised Rajendra not to pay heed to the haunted house's rumours and perform puja and move in.
Rajesh Khanna brought this house from another actor named Rajendra Kumar, who kept the house name Dimple. When Rajendra moving into this house, his career reached a massive high.
Rajendra saw back-to-back hits, earning him the title, 'Jubilee Kumar'. Later, as he grew more prosperous, he bought a Pali Hill residence named Dimple.
Rajesh Khanna, a newcomer, wanted to buy Rajendra's house, hoping the luck rubbed off on him. The actor bought it for Rs 3.5 lakhs.
