Aamir Khan expressed that creating a film adaptation of the Mahabharata has long been a personal dream, though he acknowledged it as a highly challenging endeavor. He believes the epic itself will never disappoint, but fears that any filmmaker might fall short of doing it justice.
Khan revealed that the project is envisioned as a large-scale franchise, potentially involving multiple directors for different parts. He shared that among all the characters, Lord Krishna deeply inspires him, and that’s the role he feels most drawn to.
On casting, Khan mentioned that actors will be chosen based on their suitability for each role rather than star power. Although the project is close to his heart, he may not direct it himself due to its massive scale, emphasizing that the Mahabharata cannot be told in a single film and will require a multi-film, possibly multi-director approach.
