IPL 2021, RR vs RCB: Bangalore rides smooth with a 7-wicket win, records scripted
Royal Challengers Bangalore came up with a relentless performance to defeat Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets in the IPL 2021 clash in Dubai. Meanwhile, a couple of records were scripted.
It was a stable performance by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as it outplayed former champion Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets in Match 43 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 Dubai International Stadium on Wednesday. Following the win, RCB stays in playoffs contention, placed third, while here are a couple of records that were scripted.
RR scripts a best for the season
The RR openers (Yashashvi Jaiswal and Evin Lewis) piled a 77-run opening stand in this game. It was its best for the season, going past the 66-run stand between Jos Buttler and Jaiswal against Mumbai Indians (MI).
Glenn Maxwell enters a particular list
Maxwell scored his 7,000th run in the IPL. As a result, he became the fifth Australian to do so after David Warner (10,019), Aaron Finch (9,845), Shane Watson (8,821) and Brad Hodge (7,406).
Winning the toss, RCB skipper Virat Kohli elected to bat, as RR was restricted to 149/9 despite a promising start, thanks to pacer Harshal Patel's three-for. In reply, RCB chased it down with ease, winning by seven wickets, thanks to Srikar Bharat and Glenn Maxwell's unstoppable batting.
Brief scores: RR 149/9 (Lewis- 58, Jaiswal- 31; Harshal- 3/34) lost to RCB 153/3 in 17.1 overs (Bharat- 44, Maxwell- 50; Rahman- 2/20) by seven wickets.
