Defending champion Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma has been on the receiving end following a six-wicket loss to Delhi Capitals in Match 133 of the Indian Premier League 2021 at the MA Chidambaram (Chepauk) Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday. <p>“Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 match against Delhi Capitals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on April 20. As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr Sharma was fined Rs 12 lakh,” said <em>IPL in a statement</em>.</p>

<p>As per the new laws, a captain of the side would be fined ₹12 lakh for the first slow over-rate offence. Meanwhile, if Rohit is to repeat the same in the next game, he could be fined doubled the previous amount, besides being under the threat of receiving a two-game ban.</p>
