In what turned out to be a one-sided encounter, former champion Chennai Super Kings easily tamed Punjab Kings by six wickets in Match 8 of the 2021 Indian Premier League at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday. It was pacer Deepak Chahar and all-rounder Moeen Ali's whose bowling and batting brilliance, respectively, played the central role in the win, as some records were indeed scripted.
MS Dhoni attains a glorious landmark
Tonight's game happened to be Dhoni's 200th game for CSK. As a result, he has become the first form CSK to attain the feat, besides being the second after Virat Kohli (209) for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Ravindra Jadeja surpasses Dhoni
In a unique feat, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has scripted one in terms of fielding. He has now inflicted 22 dismissals via run out in the IPL, thus surpassing Dhoni's 21.
Chahar extends some records
Ever since Chahar made his debut in IPL 2017, he has been on a roll. Although he did not script any new records tonight, he extended the record of having dismissed the most batsmen for ducks (14). He has also extended the record of taking the most wickets during the powerplay phase since his debut (36).

Winning the toss and electing to field, CSK made the perfect start by rattling the PBKS top-order, while the middle-order was put under pressure, as despite Shahrukh Khan's late cameo, the latter could manage 106/8. In reply, it was an easy chase, thanks to Faf du Plessis and Moeen.
