IPL 2021: These are the records scripted as Delhi Capitals gets the better of Mumbai Indians
This was Delhi Capitals' third win of the 2021 Indian Premier League, as, with a loss, it has risen to the second spot on the points table. Meanwhile, MI suffered its second defeat of the season, as with two wins, it has dropped to fourth place.
Delhi Capitals produced a spirited performance across departments to tame defending champion Mumbai Indians by six wickets in Match 13 of the 2021 Indian Premier League at the MA Chidamabaram (Chepauk) Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday. After a brilliant four-for by spinner Amit Mishra, it was opener Shikhar Dhawan's, whose classy knock of 45 immensely aided DC in the chase. Meanwhile, a couple of records were scripted in the process.
Mishra gets the better of Rohit Sharma
Mishra produced significant figures of 4/24, as he also got rid of Rohit in the process. Consequently, he has now become the most successful bowler against Rohit in the IPL, dismissing him on seven occasions. He is also the joint-most successful bowler to dismiss a particular batsman in the IPL, along with Zaheer Khan (MS Dhoni) and Sandeep Sharma (Virat Kohli).
Jasprit Bumrah gets better of Rishabh Pant
Just like Mishra, Jasprit Bumrah managed to get rid of Rishabh Pant for just seven tonight, which was the latter's sixth dismissal against the pacer. On the same note, Bumrah has had the number of Pant on most occasions in the IPL.
Winning the toss, Rohit rightfully elected to bat first and scored 44. It was then Mishra, whose four-for rattled MI's batting order and could manage a below-par total of 137/9. In reply, Dhawan's excellent knock of 45 set the platform for the incoming batsmen to get the job done by six wickets.
Brief scores: MI 137/9 (Rohit- 44; Mishra- 4/24) lost to DC 138/4 (Dhawan- 45; Pollard- 1/9) by six wickets.
