With this win, KKR registered its tenth win in the opening game of the 14 seasons so far. Also, it was its 100th win in the tournament, thus becoming the third side after Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians to do so.
Following the win, KKR's principal owner and renowned Bollywood actor, Shah Rukh Khan, expressed his delight at it. He took to his Twitter to celebrate the win.

Winning the toss, SRH skipper David Warner invited KKR to bat first, as Nitish Rana and Rahul Tripathi nailed the bowlers to post a respectable total of 187/6. While the SRH batsmen, namely Pandey and Jonny Bairstow, did well, the KKR bowlers were too strong to give up, as SRH fell short by ten runs.
