IPL 2020: Fans click MS Dhoni pictures at Chennai airport as CSK head to UAE
Chennai: The MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings left Chennai for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Friday (August 21) to participate in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020). This will be the first tournament for Dhoni after his retirement from international cricket.
All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja posted pictures with his teammates before their departure to Dubai.
Offspinner Harbhajan Singh did not travel with the team and will join his teammates later.
Australian all-rounder Shane Watson is already in Dubai. He landed in the UAE on Thursday (August 20). He shared a video and said he is under seven-day quarantine.
On August 15, Dhoni called it quits from India duty but chose to continue playing for CSK. He has been the Chennai outfit’s captain since the start of the league in 2008.
The same day when Dhoni retired, his CSK teammate Suresh Raina too decided to bid adieu to international cricket.
Fans are eagerly waiting to see ‘Thala’ Dhoni in action. He has not played a competitive game since the World Cup 2019 semi-final in England last July.
When the CSK players arrived at the Chennai airport, those present there, took out their smartphones to click pictures of Dhoni and others.
Dhoni was the star attraction. Earlier, CSK had a five-day camp in Chennai. Dhoni was seen smashing sixes. The video of the same was shared by CSK’s Twitter handle.
CSK have won three IPL titles, all under Dhoni’s captaincy. In last IPL, they were beaten by Mumbai Indians (MI) in a thrilling final contest.
IPL 2020 will be played in the UAE from September 19 to November 10.
