Indian Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane is one of the best Indian batsmen in the longest format, while he has impressive records when leading the side. As he celebrates his 33rd birthday, we look at some of the unique records he holds.

Ajinkya Rahane is the reigning vice-captain of Team India in the Tests, while he also happens to be one of the most effective and reliable batsmen for the side in the same format. Under his captaincy, India managed to tame Australia Down Under earlier this year to retain the Border-Gavaskar Test Trophy.

Meanwhile, he is celebrating his 33rd birthday on Sunday. On the auspicious occasion, we look at five of the unique records he holds in the sport.

Scored century in both innings of a Test
In 2015, during a Test against South Africa in Delhi, Rahane scored a century in both innings. Consequently, he became the fifth Indian cricketer to do so after Virat Kohli, Rahul Dravid, Sunil Gavaskar and Vijay Hazare.

Six fours in an over
In another unique record, Rahane smashed six fours in an over during the Indian Premier League 2012, playing for Rajasthan Royals against Sreenath Arvind of Royal Challengers Bangalore. As a result, he became the first batsman in Twenty20 cricket to do so.

India wins while he scores a century
In an exciting record, India has never lost a match to date when he has scored a century in the longest format. His last ton came against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground during the Boxing Day Test last year, as India won the tie.

Most catches in a Test as a fielder
Rahane's achievements are not just restricted with his bat but also as a fielder. During a Test against Sri Lanka at Galle in 2015, he claimed eight catches, thus scripting the record of taking the most catches in a single Test as a fielder (excluding wicketkeeper).

India wins under his captaincy
In another interesting observation, India has never lost a match when Rahane has led the side as the captain. In five games to date, India has won four and drawn the other under his captaincy.
