West Bengal's COVID-19 death toll crosses 10,000-mark
West Bengal on Thursday (January 14) reported 680 new COVID-19 cases. According to the state health bulletin, 17 deaths were reported in a single day taking the toll to 10,010.
The recovery rate remained at 96.93 percent after 694 recoveries since Wednesday (January 13). Till date, 5,46,193 people have recovered from the disease.
Out of the 17 deaths, a maximum of seven was registered in North 24 Parganas, followed by four in Kolkata.
According to the state health bulletin, out of the 17 fatalities, 15 were due to comorbidities where COVID-19 was incidental.
The total of active cases is now 7,272 having improved by over five times, from 37,190 on October 26.
Since Wednesday, at least 32,617 samples have been tested, taking the total number of such clinical examinations to 75,60,561.
