West Bengal reports 926 new COVID-19 cases; 21 more deaths
West Bengal reported 926 new COVID-19 cases taking the toll to 5,59,099 on Friday (January 8). According to the state health bulletin, 21 people died in the state pushing the state’s coronavirus death toll to 9,902.
However, 1,136 people recovered in the state in a single day and returned home from the hospital. The recovery rate in the state stands at 96.75 percent.
North 24 Parganas district reported the highest number of new cases at 254, followed by Kolkata (238).
Kolkata registered the highest number of fresh fatalities at nine, followed by North 24 Parganas district (4).
The state now has 8,245 active cases, while 5,40,952 people have been cured of the disease.
West Bengal has so far tested 73.72 lakh samples for COVID-19, including 36,135 in the last 24 hours.
