West Bengal reports 1,541 new COVID-19 cases; 31 more deaths
West Bengal reported 1,541 new COVID-19 cases taking the tally to 5,44,755. The COVID-19 toll in the state rose to 9,536 on Friday (December 25) with 31 more people succumbing to the disease.
According to the state health bulletin, 1,954 people recovered in a single day and went back home from hospital. However, the recovery rate in the state stands at 95.54 percent.
The percentage of positive cases out of samples tested stood at 7.90, the bulletin said.
According to the state health bulletin, 40,089 samples have been tested in the state on Thursday (December 24). The number of active cases stood at 14,749.
North 24 Parganas reported the maximum of 14 deaths, followed by Kolkata, which recorded seven deaths.
According to the state health bulletin, 376 people were infected with COVID in a single day in North 24 Parganas while Kolkata recorded 347 cases.
