West Bengal registers 1,653 new COVID-19 cases; 40 more deaths

West Bengal on Tuesday (December 22) registered 1,653 new COVID-19 cases. According to the state health bulletin, 40 people died in the state in a single day. 
 

<p>Out of the 40 deaths, 10 people died in Kolkata and 8 from North 24 Parganas. The total death toll in Bengal is 9,439. The death toll rose to 2,882 in Kolkata.</p>

<p>The percentage of COVID positive cases out of total sample tests in West Bengal in the past 24 hours stands at 7.97. According to the state health bulletin, 388 people were infected with COVID in a single day in Kolkata. So far, a total of 1,20,503 COVID-19 cases were reported in Kolkata.</p>
