West Bengal: COVID-19 recovery rate nears 97%
The COVID-19 recovery rate in West Bengal stood at 96.97 percent on Monday (January 18). It was achieved following a rise over 88 consecutive days from 87.44 on October 22 last year.
According to the state health bulletin, 10 people died in a single day in the state taking the toll to 10,053. Out of the 12 deaths, 2 are from Kolkata and 3 from North 24 Parganas.
The state also reported 569 recoveries and 389 infections on Monday. West Bengal now has over 5.65 lakh COVID-19 cases.
According to the state health bulletin, 164 people were infected with COVID in North 24 Parganas in a single day. However, North 24 Parganas tops the list of infections followed by Kolkata.
At present, there are 7,083 active cases in the state. Meanwhile, 621 people recovered in the state in a single day and returned home from the hospital.
West Bengal’s total test count, including 18,875 tests on Monday, is over 76.66 lakh now, at 85,180 tests per million people.
