Coronavirus: Recovery rate nears 95% in West Bengal
West Bengal reports new 1,978 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. However, the recovery rate neared 95% in the state. According to the state health bulletin, 40 people died in a single day taking the death toll to 9,360.
The active caseload dropped below 18,000 to 17,771 as recoveries continued to outpace new cases.
2,627 people were discharged from hospital in the last 24 hours which pushed up the recovery rate to 94.95 percent.
A bulk of the new cases (58.74 percent) and deaths (27) occurred in the infection hotspot of which Kolkata and North 24 Parganas tops the list.
Darjeeling recorded 79 new cases, Jalpaiguri 67, and Malda 25.
Darjeeling leads the list of active cases with 547 patients, followed by Jalpaiguri (462) and Cooch Behar (381).
