Coronavirus: Number of cases dip further in West Bengal; recovery rate at 97.19%
After the COVID-19 vaccine arrived in West Bengal, the number of cases are declining. The state on Wednesday (January 27) reported 234 new COVID-19 cases taking the toll to 5,68,884.
According to the state health bulletin, 8 people died in a single day in the state taking the toll to 10,139.
At least 386 more people recuperated from the disease, pushing the recovery rate in the state to 97.19 percent.
Out of the 8 deaths, one each was reported from Kolkata, South 24 Parganas, North 24 Parganas, Hooghly, Howrah, East Medinipur, Bankura, and Jalpaiguri.
A total of 5,52,877 people have recovered from the disease so far, the bulletin said. Kolkata reported 62 new cases, followed by North 24 Parganas district at 52.
The number of active cases in the state is 5,868, while 78,94,508 samples have been tested till date, including 17,609 on Wednesday.
