Bengal reports 823 new COVID-19 cases; vaccine to reach North Bengal tomorrow
West Bengal on Sunday (January 10) reported 823 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total case tally to 5,60,709. As many as 19 deaths were reported, pushing the fatality tally to 9,941.
Of the 823 fresh infections, Kolkata recorded 231 and North 24 Parganas 226. About 83.9% (8,343) of the deceased in the State had co-morbidities and 16.1% (1598) had no co-morbidities.
According to the state health bulletin, 231 people were infected with COVID in Kolkata in a single day. A total of 1,25,528 people was infected in Kolkata so far. In West Bengal, a total of 5,60,709 people was infected so far.
226 people were infected with COVID in North 24 Parganas in a single day. however, Kolkata again tops the list in COVID-19 cases. 823 people were infected with COVID in a single day in West Bengal.
The recovery rate in the state stands at 96.82%. the State tested 35,123 samples in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 vaccine is arriving in North Bengal on Tuesday (January 12). In the first phase, more than one lakh doctors and health workers will be vaccinated in seven northern districts. However, no decision has been taken to provide the vaccine in the open market.
